Not yet ready to adopt? You can sponsor a pet now to help pay for medical expenses, special diets, toys and treats, emergency medical care, etc., to provide for him or her during foster care. Our adoption fee rarely covers our expenses, so any size donation is appreciated!
Click the Sponsor Me! logo to make a donation. Meet Bobak! He is named for the NASA scientist who worked on the Mars Curiosity rover sporting a mohawk hairstyle. Bobak was originally a gift for children who was soon forgotten and left to suffer in a back yard cage until a friend of the rescue took him in. Unfortunately, this good samaritan really didn't know how to care for a rabbit, so she contacted us. Bobak had a severe, long-term ear infection causing a head-tilt and vestibular disease, along with severe matting, when he first came in. He was on a strenuous course of ear medicine and antibiotics for nearly 2 months. He is feeling much better now, though he still has a bit of vestibular disease, and likely always will. This just means that his head slowly turns to the left, then jerks to the right (think typewriter). We think that this causes him no real discomfort other than a bit of dizziness when he's picked up - he does not like to be picked up at all! He will flail and often pee when picked up, but when left to move around on his own he is just fine. He is sweet and loves to be petted, though. He gets along with the cats and dogs in his foster home. Bobak is litter trained, and will typically always use his box to pee but will sometimes leave pellets on the floor. :) Bobak loves most fresh fruits and veggies and likes his food pellets as well. He isn't picky and will try most foods at least once, though he tends to stick to his favorites - bananas and romaine. He would do well in just about any home, as long as everyone understands his medical situation and don't expect him to ever enjoy being picked up. He deserves a home of his own - perhaps with you and your family?
****************************************** Our rabbits are fostered inside, are fed a high quality pellet plus lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and are introduced to litter training. Adults are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Since babies must be six months old to be spayed or neutered, they may be adopted prior to their surgery, but adopters will be required to sign a spay/neuter agreement and have the surgery done when they are no older than 7 months old. The adoption fee for rabbits is $65.00, which covers the surgery.
